Message from the Executive Director
The Nevada-Sierra Regional IHSS Public Authority opened in April of this year. Almost a decade has passed since local advocates began planning this innovative approach to the delivery of a better, Consumer-controlled In-Home Supportive Services system.
We are the first multi-County IHSS Public Authority. This unique model allows us to serve three small counties with less overhead and administrative costs. Our hard-working Governing Board Members from Nevada, Sierra and Plumas Counties are giving us the guidance and direction needed to assist in the implementation of an excellent Independent Provider Registry. The IHSS staff from each of the three counties has also been very helpful in developing our procedures, policies and practices.
I look forward to meeting many of you in the upcoming months at our trainings, open house and visits to your communities. If you would like to be part of the future of this exciting model, there are openings on Advisory and Governing Boards in each of the Counties. Contact your local Board of Supervisors office or the Nevada-Sierra Regional IHSS Public Authority for more information.
Toward independence and equality for all,
Tony Sauer
